My name is Paul Bailey. I have 20 years’ experience teaching and tutoring mathematics at all levels including:

• AS/A-Level Maths and Further Maths – Pure, Mechanics, and Statistics
• GCSE – all my students achieved their required grades in the new 9 to 1 exam
• STEP/MAT – the Oxbridge entrance exam, also used by Warwick, Imperial, and other top universities
• Key Stage 3 – Y7, Y8, and Y9

The feedback I receive is that children, young people, and adults all think my explanations are clear, they enjoy my teaching, and, as a result, they are successful in their exams.

My lessons are very well planned and prepared, and adapted to suit your individual needs.

I have taught maths at every level, from young children struggling with counting, right up to some of the brightest young people in the country preparing for the most challenging university entrance exams. Everyone makes significant, rapid progress.

The 2014 Examiner's Report called STEP Unquestionably the most demanding of examinations in the UK for students of pre-university years. I think this is an accurate description.

STEP is a very specialised examination, completely different from, and much more demanding than even Further Maths A-Level. If you have a university offer which includes STEP then you will require extensive practice in order to be fully prepared.

I can help with this: I have a Programme of Study with preparatory materials which lead up to practising STEP questions from past papers.

At first the questions are likely to be very challenging as you adapt to the demands, but with practice you should begin to understand, enjoy, and improve.

I have successfully tutored all of AS and A-Level Maths and Further Maths including Core, Mechanics, Statistics, and Further Pure content for six years.

My A-Level tutoring includes:

• tailored preparation and planning - the lesson is specific to you, you will make a lot of progress, and understand the topics 
• the actual lesson - we get you to the point where you can make progress on your own and then move on to the next topic 
• setting "homework" - you really need to practise what we cover, that's when you learn the most 
• a reasonable amount of contact in between lessons eg if you're stuck and have a question or would like me to check something
