After graduating from Birmingham University with a degree in Biological Science I worked as a microbiologist in the Dairy industry, and then in the Pharmaceutical Industry, for several years. I returned to university to qualify as a teacher and have taught in British and International schools for 20 years.
The majority of my teaching experience is in Science. I have taught Physics and Chemistry up to and including GCSE and A level Biology. I was teacher in charge of the Biology department for some years. I have worked as an A level examiner.
For many years I tutored students in my home. Some as young as 12/13 wanting to prepare for Key Stage 3 science exams, others studying for GCSE Science or A Level Biology. Not one single student failed to gain the grade they wanted and some did even better! For 2 years I ran a week-long Easter GCSE revision course where students could come and revise for all their subjects, with the provision of resources and a science revision tutorial every day. These courses were very popular and successful. For the last three years I have tutored on-line and have taught over 2000 lessons.
I moved to Sweden nine years ago and have learned Swedish and have qualified to teach English as a foreign language. Learning something as challenging as Swedish has really informed my own teaching.
My real joy and talent is in inspiring young people to enjoy and become successful in the subjects they are studying and I look forward to the opportunity of tutoring you.
